Title: Windows 7
Post by: PaulaLA on October 29, 2009, 09:32:52 AM
Has anyone tried it? According to a study done last year by apache friends (available at www.pdf-search-engine.com), the majority of XAMPP users are still using windows xp. Wondering if there are any great new features specific to apache/php development that would make people want to upgrade to windows 7.

Hi Paula,
AFAIK there is nothing special to Windows7 that matters to apache.

I tried it in a virtual machine. It wasn't better or worse. Only Win 7 itself rocks more than Vista ever did.

Mario, Do you have a GA release of Windows 7?
Windows 7 Beta and VC2008 would not build properly. MT would not embed the manifests.
Windows 7 RC and VC2008 was the same, they had not fixed it. MT would still not embed the manifests.

Wondering, did it ever get fixed by GA? If not, it is unusable for building Apache unless you include every single manifest file as well ... what a mess that would be!
