Did anyone try a different perl than active perl from activestate? Experience? Differences?

yes, long ago I thought there was an official perl fo win32 from CPAN, I think it was there. I used it for a little while with no noticeable difference. However, my knowledge in perl is much advanced than it was then and I wonder just what I would get away with now. Since it was a CPAN thing, I figure everything I am used to + some of the modules that simply haven't migrated into AS Perl yet.

Will I return to try it again? Probably not, due to reasons in and outside the server I am pretty much bound to AS Perl for.
